SALB provides registered individuals who are blind or print-disabled with free loan of specialized playback equipment for enjoying SALB books and magazines. Just like our accessible reading materials, this equipment is conveniently delivered and returned via postage-free mail through our network libraries.
To enhance your listening experience, SALB offers various accessories like USB adapters, lightweight headphones, breath switches, and remote controls. For individuals with significant hearing loss, high-volume players and headphones are available upon request from your local network library
Experience the ease of digital access with BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download), our online service. Download audiobooks onto cartridges or USB drives, or enjoy SALB books directly on your mobile devices using the BARD Mobile app – freeing up loaner equipment for others.
Furthermore, SALB is authorized to loan refreshable braille displays to eligible readers. The SALB Braille eReader offers a 20-cell display, Perkins-style keyboard, ample storage, and connectivity via Wi-Fi (for direct BARD downloads) and Bluetooth (for smartphone screen reading). It supports various file formats, offers braille translation, and integrates with NFB Newsline. Its navigation features allow for easy exploration of text
